Loud wailing and screams from the children were echoing profusely through the activity room. The teachers were helpless in taking control of the classes and resorted to raising their own voices. This did not only increase the noise level altogether, but also the chances of ailments such as sore throat and fatigue amongst the staff.
Despite all exisitng fittings on the ceiling, i.e. fans and hanging lights, dB Acoustics was able to fit Ecophon Solo panels to the room which provided excellent acoustic absorption. Both students and teachers were able to resume classes in a much more comfortable and productive environment.

The design plan was to create a timeless natural yet rustic timber look while meeting the different acoustical requirements.
dB Acoustics, together with the architect and the acoustic consultant, came up with these sustainable acoustic solutions. The auditorium walls were cladded with solid recycled pine blocks of different shapes and sizes, and an overhead absorptive acoustic drum lined with timber battens was installed.
The unfinished pine wood acoustic blocks add a warm, rustic feel to the auditorium space, while creating a perfectly diffuse sound field. The acoustic drum with timber battens boosts sound absorption and serves as an attractive design feature.
